Ruff nite.

I definitely had a rough night tonight. A lot of mess ups and set backs, and it's apparent by the way I've worked "around the subject" to trick myself into thinking I've accomplished something. It is what it is, and this is what I've done so far. Hopefully my next session will be more successful.

Little plain, Jane.

As promised, this is what the drip painting looks like hung. I'm diggin' it! I really think this is a great way to add some color or interest to any room that's lacking a little. I'm thinking the other walls are a little jealous, so I'll have to work up something for them as well later. I'll be working on Kat from now on so stay posted for progress pics!!

Drip it like it's Hot

This painting is basically the reason I painted over my argyle wall which you saw in a previous post. I think for a first try, it came out pretty cool. I started off with brown and just started layering until I was happy with the color scheme. After this one is hung (and yes, I'll post pics), I'm thinking of doing some smaller ones around the room. Is it possible for too much drip to be drippin'?

the Kat is bacK!

I feel like I've taken enough time between paintings now. I'm really going to put all of my energy into finishing Kat and possibly starting on a series for a show. This pic shows where I'm at now. It's obviously the beginning stages. I have my reference pic, or what I like to call a digital sketch, taped up and ready to go! Kat started off as a nude of a girl on a pool table. I gave her a bikini, a new head, a headband, some new hair, accentuated her curves, and slapped a background behind her. Let's see what happens!

the best Part of Louisiana

Well, I was going to post another "work in progress" painting of mine today, but as I was watching the weather, I remembered my days in the control room sitting through the weather block. My design teachers always said negative space is just as important...

Mike and Ike

I found this display on my coworker's desk very interesting. I believe the use of color was intentional here to make the subject pop, and the beautiful contrast between a phallic Mike and Ike and a Hooters wet nap is undeniable. A little something clean, just in case you're feeling dirty.
